Victor has decades of legal experience in the corporate and commercial, mergers and acquisitions, securities and public listings and private wealth sectors. He has represented on behalf of clients in numerous sizeable cross-border M&A transactions in the hospitality, media, property, food and beverage industries. In addition, he assisted on numerous initial public offerings for businesses in the shipping, container manufacturing, logistics, hotels, and telecommunication industries.
He was a founding Partner of the Canadian law firm Boughton Peterson Yang Anderson, the first Canadian law firm approved by the China Ministry of Justice in 1992 to be licensed as a foreign law firm in China, and was the Chief Representative of the firm's representative office in Shanghai. Prior to establishing this law firm, he was the Managing Partner of the Hong Kong office of a leading PRC law firm until 2017. In 2019, he founded a new Hong Kong law firm which became a member of the global legal network associated with one of the Big Four accounting firms and remained as its Managing Partner until 2023.
He served as a director in numerous publicly traded companies listed on various stock exchanges i.e., Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States. He was the Executive Vice-Chairman and Director Emeritus of TerraLex, a global network of independent law firms. He is currently a Governor of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the President and Director of the Hong Kong Foundation of UBC Limited, and a Council Member, Council of Advisor to the Dean of Law, the University of British Columbia, Canada.
Victor is recognised by Global Law Experts as the exclusive Hong Kong “Recommended Attorney” in International Commercial (2024-2025) and is selected as a finalist for the “Managing Partner of the Year” category of ALB Hong Kong Law Awards (2024).
